November Gardening: Pumpkin Pie Reigns as Outdoor Gardens Wane

Pumpkin pie fans have some great news coming their way, but garden gurus may have a boring month if they don't plan appropriately. November is a bountiful time for feasting on the fall harvest, while not a lot goes on in the garden. Apples, corn and squash are plentiful alongside the fall staple pumpkin that is necessary on every holiday table from Thanksgiving to New Year's.

Gardeners in a temperate climate can plant locally-hardy plants to keep landscapes healthy during the winter, but gardeners who wish to hit up the veggie gardening circuit will almost certainly find the weather too chilly for any edible planting to survive. Fortunately, indoor gardening, with soil in containers and with advanced indoor gardening systems based on hydroponic and aeroponic technology, can help turn up the corners of a frowny-faced winter gardener with nothing to tend during the cold months.

It is the season to stay inside and bake harvest delights like pie, but if you can't wait to get your next garden going, check out November In-Season Harvest Picks and Gardening Guide for more tips to get your indoor garden going for the fall and winter months.
